The Shelton Land Conservation Trust promotes preservation
of our precious natural resources to enhance the quality of the local
environment for the benefit of current and future generations.
We seek to provide open space for residents and habitat for native plants
and wild creatures through land acquisition and protection. Another
goal is to educate others about the value of ecological awareness, preservation
and participation in conservation activities.
In conjunction with these aims, we have established a Scouting area at the southwest end of our Nicholdale Parcel (map) where local troops and packs can come for overnight or day activities to develope outdoor skills, deepen their understanding of our natural world, and work on merit badges. The Land Trust has also partnered with individual scouts working on Eagle Projects and troops seeing opportunities for community service.
